Shri Manoj Kumar Das, born on 20 December 1966 in Darbhanga, Bihar, is a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre and currently serves as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Gujarat. An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur with a B.Tech (Hons) in Computer Science, he brings over three decades of experience in public administration, combining strong technical expertise with strategic governance.
He has held pivotal roles including Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara and Surat, Additional Chief Secretary in key departments such as Industries & Mines, Ports & Transport, and Revenue, and a central deputation in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Shri Das is known for driving technology-enabled governance, e-governance reforms, and major initiatives like Industrial Policy 2020, Vibrant Gujarat Summit, and maritime infrastructure projects. His contributions to urban administration, industrial development, and infrastructure have earned multiple national awards for excellence in public service.
